Instagram moms make it look perfect. My day is not perfect. It’s messy, loud, and I drink cold coffee 3 times.
I am Sarah, 29, stay-at-home mom to Leo (2 years old). No nanny, no filter. Here is what yesterday really looked like. If your day looks like this too, you are not alone.
6:15 AM – Wakes up before alarm
Leo screams “Mama!!” from his crib. I wanted to sleep until 7. No chance. Diaper blowout first thing. Great start.
6:45 AM – Breakfast battle
I make oatmeal. He throws it on floor. I give him Cheerios. He eats that. I eat his cold oatmeal standing up. Coffee #1.
8:00 AM – Toys everywhere already
Living room looks like Target exploded. I try to pick up, he follows me and throws toys again. I give up. Laundry mountain is staring at me.
9:30 AM – Park attempt
We go to park. He cries because I brought wrong shoes. We stay 20 minutes. He eats sand. We go home.
11:00 AM – Nap time = my work time
He finally naps. I have 45 minutes. I try to work on blog, do dishes, fold laundry, and eat lunch in 45 min. I do none well. Coffee #2 cold again.
12:30 PM – Lunch again
Chicken nuggets and berries. He only eats berries. I eat nuggets.
2:00 PM – Tantrum hour
He wants to watch Bluey for the 100th time. I say no. Meltdown for 15 minutes because I cut banana wrong. Yes, wrong way.
3:30 PM – Snack + Bluey (I give in)
I turn on Bluey. He sits. I sit. Silence for 20 minutes feels like vacation.
5:00 PM – Dinner prep chaos
He wants to help. He spills water everywhere. Dinner is mac and cheese from box. No shame.
6:30 PM – Bath time
Water everywhere. Bathroom flooded. He is happy.
8:00 PM – Bedtime
3 books, 2 waters, 1 more hug. He sleeps. I sit on couch with laundry still not folded. Coffee #3 cold.
This is my day. Messy but I love it.
What does your day look like? Tell me I’m not alone in comments.
