I was spending $50 on toys my 2-year-old ignored. Now we do these 7 activities – cheap, no mess, and he naps 2 hours after.
All under $5, USA dollar store finds:
1. Water Painting – $0
Cup of water + paintbrush + construction paper. He “paints” for 30 min, paper dries and we reuse. No mess!
2. Painter Tape Roads – $1
Stick painter tape on floor as roads for his cars. Keeps him busy 45 min while I drink coffee.
3. Rice Bin with Cups – $2
Bag of rice from Dollar Tree + old cups. Scooping = quiet time for me.
4. Laundry Basket Car Wash – $0
Laundry basket + toy cars + old toothbrush. He scrubs cars, I fold laundry.
5. Sticker Peel – $1
Dollar Tree sticker book + paper. Fine motor + busy for 20 min.
6. Cardboard Box House – $0
Amazon box + crayons. He colors inside box. Best $0 toy ever.
7. Pots and Pans Band – $0
Old pots + wooden spoon. Loud but tires him out before nap. I use earplugs.
My USA money tip:
Don’t buy fancy sensory toys. Dollar Tree has same stuff for $1.25. I save $30/month.
Total cost this week: $4.50. Nap time: 2 hours daily. Win win.
